Hello and welcome to my blog. This is a simple journal based blog all about my garden in the South West of England. It will document key highlights and show what I (and the Mr) have been getting up to through the seasons.
We both work full time and I enjoy gardening in my spare time when I can, so I will be posting sporadically to this blog, as time allows. Some of you might like to follow along with me through this journey.
Our garden is modest in size and is a series of nooks, (hence the name I chose for this blog). At the back of the property, it is an unusual U shape and it meanders through a series of areas, wrapping around the property. It also has a fairly drastic change in level in one area and has an old dilapidated (and rather precarious) staircase. Having looked at some of the planting, it seems to have once been loved, but it needs TLC across all areas and it will take time to craft and bring back to life.
The nooks include areas I have so far nicknamed ‘The Wild Borders’ and ‘The Honeysuckle Nook’, but there are other areas under development that I have yet to formally name.
I will at some point sit down and draw out a proper plan showing the overall layout and how each area flows into each other. My main design style in the garden is cottage style, so you can expect to see some future designs focusing on that. Having previously worked as a florist, I really love plants and flowers and I love the look of romantic abundance in the garden, as well as hidden areas you can discover and enjoy as you walk through a garden. I hope over time to develop my garden into a series of relaxing areas to enjoy.
Anyway, that’s all for now and I hope you enjoy reading this blog.
