Hello again! Welcome back to my blog and hello to the start of March 2025! Somehow this month has crept up suddenly, not that I am complaining 🙂
I have had a busy week working on the right hand side of The Wild Border, so that it is ready to get growing come Spring this year. I am still finalising some parts of that project and will post an update showing you the progress on Wednesday next week.
Due to being busy, today’s post is a shorter one showing some progress of seeds and bulbs I planted recently.
Sweet peas
The sweet peas I sowed back in December are growing on well. I have pinched out the tops at about the third set of leaves, which has encouraged them now to start bushing out.

These are also ready to be potted on really, but I don’t think I have enough pots for them all! I might have to consider an alternative like paper pots, especially since I want to give a number of sweet peas away in our village.
Oriental lilies
The oriental lilies I potted up very recently and posted about here have already started to sprout. I am going to move them up to The Fruit Cage and plant them out so that they can get well established.

For those that might be wondering why I will be planting these in The Fruit Cage; this is primarily to protect any local cats that visit our garden, because lilies are highly toxic to cats. It should also add some interest, beauty and benefits for pollinators up in The Fruit Cage. I intend to mix in flowers with all the fruits for the same reasons.
Daffodils
The daffodils that I was fairly late to plant are doing really well and should start flowering soon.

I posted about potting the daffodils up here. I have been staring at the barren plant pots over the last few weeks, worried that they were just going to sit and sulk in the pots. Since the sunshine has been visiting us and temperatures have been rising, the daffodils have started poking their heads up.
I will plant these out after flowering in Autumn this year, in what should be their final planting position.
That’s all for today. Come back again on Wednesday to see the main project I have been working on this week!
I also have a variety of seeds to start sowing and bulbs to plant out, that I will start doing as the weather permits.
Until Wednesday, happy gardening 🙂
